Is it’s safe for kids to wear contacts?

Can kids wear contact lenses? The answer is YES, but one has to be careful.

From a medical point of view, there is no age limit to the use of contact lenses, only indications, and off-indications, even infants or kids, once needed, and timely and accurate use of contact lenses for correction and treatment.

But why do some people not recommend that kids wear contact lenses?

In addition, kids’ awareness of self-health care and self-care ability is insufficient if improper care is easy to cause eyeball infection, resulting in keratitis, corneal ulcers, perforation, and seriously affecting the kids’ vision.

Therefore, contact lenses are not recommended for young children unless necessary.

Under what circumstances should kids wear contact lenses?

Your kids may consider wearing contact lenses if:

• Kids with rapid myopia development over the age of 8 May consider wearing orthokeratology lenses to control the development of myopia;

• Kids with high astigmatism or with keratoconus should consider wearing rigid breathable contact lenses to achieve better correction and control effect;

• For ordinary soft contact lenses, children with anisometropia can be considered, but it is generally recommended to test over 18.
