Comprehensive Eye Exam
Q & A
What is a comprehensive eye exam?
A comprehensive eye exam is an evaluation of your complete eye and vision health. At Visionary Eye Center, this includes a detailed evaluation of the inner and outer structures of your eye, uncovering any issues in regard to one’s ocular health, as well as an in depth assessment of your visual system, assessing eye teaming, focusing, and tracking issues. Our Patients will also receive a glasses prescription.
How can a comprehensive eye exam help me?
A comprehensive eye exam is your number one defense against eye diseases or conditions that can cause your vision to deteriorate over time. Many eye diseases cause few symptoms – some don’t even cause noticeable changes in vision. As a result, they can go undetected for a long time. A comprehensive eye exam can help identify diseases in their early stages, allowing for preventative and proactive care. An annual eye health examination is an important part of overall health care. The doctor will check for conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, retinal detachment, and macular degeneration. Other health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and various types of cancer are commonly detected on routine eye health examinations.
How often should I have a comprehensive eye exam?
Vision exams are recommended annually. If you have existing vision problems or eye health issues, more frequent visits may be recommended. Children should have their first eye exam by the time they are six months old to identify potential problems that occur soon after birth, again by age three, and before first grade to make sure learning activities will not be hampered by vision problems.
