What is oculoplastic surgery?

Oculoplastic surgery is a field of ophthalmology that focuses on surgery of the eyelids, tear ducts, eye socket, and nearby facial structures. It includes both reconstructive surgery and cosmetic procedures. Examples include blepharoplasty for excess eyelid skin, ptosis repair for droopy eyelids, surgery for eyelid disorders after trauma or skin cancer removal, and procedures to treat blocked tear ducts.
