Graduating with honors from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Dr. Barto’s pursuit of knowledge led her to Nova Southeastern University, where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry alongside an additional bachelor’s degree in Vision Science. Her dedication and academic brilliance shone through, as she graduated in the top 10% of her class and served as the treasurer of Beta Sigma Kappa National Honor Society.

Complementing her educational achievements, Dr. Barto completed externships in Ocular Disease at prestigious institutions, including the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, Eye Centers of South Florida, and The NSU Eye Care Institute. Embracing her curiosity and commitment to specialization, she explored various departments, delving into Advanced Care Glaucoma, Retina, Cornea, Specialty Contact Lenses, Pediatric and Binocular Vision, and Myopia Management.

Driven by a passion for advancing eye care, Dr. Barto conducted groundbreaking research on Primary Congenital Glaucoma at Akron Children’s Hospital, culminating in the publication of a scientific journal, “Analysis of Ocular Changes in a CYP1B1-/- Mouse.” Her dedication to sharing knowledge and insights extended to presenting a scientific poster at SECO in March of 2023, titled “Acute Macular Neuroretinopathy Case Series: Diagnostic Challenges in the Era of COVID.”

As a Board Certified Optometrist and an esteemed member of the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association, and the Palm Beach County Optometric Association, Dr. Barto’s expertise is further enriched by specialized certifications. Her proficiency includes Valley Contax Custom Stable Elite scleral lenses, MiSight Myopia Management, and Bausch + Lomb Vision Shaping Treatment, ensuring that her patients receive the most cutting-edge and personalized care available.

Having found her forever home in Florida, Dr. Barto is an active and cherished member of the community.
